We are a registered Royal Academy of Dance school based at 8/72 Chifley Drive Preston and teach the RAD Children's syllabus from Pre Primary to Grade 8 and the RAD Major syllabus from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 1 and 2, as well as the RAD Discovering Repertoire Syllabus, the Silver Swans Programme for Seniors, and Pre School dance for the Kinder age child. We are also a registered State Dance Association Inc school specialising in the SDA's tap and jazz syllabus, with students studying from Primary One tap though to Advanced Performance as well as Primary 1 jazz to Level 5.
The school first opened in 1993 by Nadine Stoddart and Robert McNamara. Over the years the school has performed its annual concerts, prepared many students for exams, competitions, and performances, played a role in local school fetes and festivals as well as taking part in important events such as Seniors Week down by the Yarra.
Darebin School of Dance whilst promoting the disciplines of dance has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which makes students and families feel welcome and comfortable. We cater for the recreational student as well as the more serious student aiming at furthering their dance training towards a career in the dance and performing arts area. We strive to provide a quality of tuition so that the students are challenged but also guided and nurtured in an achievable and positive manner. We provide a variety of dance styles and encourage the students to explore all these different techniques in order to expose themselves to a range of dance, music, costumes and choreography. Many of our students and families have remained involved in our school throughout the years and we are now thrilled to see some second generation students starting with us. Many of our former students have moved on to pursue careers in the dance/arts genre and have furthered their careers both in Australia and overseas. We are very proud of each and every one of our students.
Wherever our students move onto in life we know that they will take with them the many skills that they have gained through their time at Darebin School of Dance, including confidence, persistence, pride in themselves and their achievements, as well as some great friendships and very special memories.
